Leaving Chapel Hill for Memphis, Tennessee, he attended the Southern College of Optometry and received his Doctorate in Optometry in 1992. He was very fortunate in finding an existing practice for sale in Winston-Salem. Since that time, he has been providing eye care through that same practice for the residents of Forsyth County and the surrounding areas.

When did you know that you wanted to be an optometrist

During college when I realized that I was really good at physics and anatomy, both of which were really helpful in Optometry school. Also, as I was growing up in Cary, NC, my optometrist was one of the happiest people I knew, and that memory still sticks with me today.

Favorite part of being an optometrist

For over twenty-five years, I've enjoyed providing eye care in Winston-Salem. Over that period, I've had the privilege of taking care of entire families, getting to know grandparents, parents, children, and grandchildren. People often come to see me with fears about having problems with their vision. It is always rewarding to be able to alleviate their fears; and on those occasions when there actually may be something wrong, it's also satisfying to explain the issue and how it is best treated.

Favorite vacation

Yellowstone National Park is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. More regularly, I enjoy going to Wrightsville Beach with my family.

Favorite concert you’ve been to

The Shaky Knees Music Festival in Atlanta - 20 bands in 3 days.

Do you have any pets?

Marci, a Silver Labrador Retriever. She's my running partner.

Fun fact

My wife Kristine and I have been living and working in Winston-Salem since 1992.  When I'm not working, I love to fly fish; and if I can't fish, I love to tie flies; and if I can't tie flies, I dream about fishing.
