Dr. Alex Mehas, O.D.
Dr. Alex was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She completed her undergraduate education at Butler University in Indiana where she majored in Chemistry.
She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Optometry from University of Missouri. Dr. Alex specializes in primary eye care and comprehensive medical eye care. She also has a special interest in pediatric eye examinations.

When did you know that you wanted to be an optometrist
After shadowing optometrists I fell in love with the profession. Being an optometrist is in my blood, both my father and uncle are optometrists also.
Favorite part of being an optometrist
The gratification of helping patients improve and preserve their vision is extremely rewarding. I also love the personal ways I get to know and connect with my patients during their exam.
Favorite vacation
My favorite vacation was when I visited Japan! I biked through the Bamboo Forest, learned how to make matcha, fed deer in Nara, hiked to the top of Monkey Park and got to feed baby monkeys. I also really enjoyed the Netherlands, I went to the A’dam Lookout and got a panoramic view of Amsterdam from a swing 100 meters in the sky.
Favorite concert you’ve been to
I enjoyed getting to hear a variety of music at Fall for Greenville! This was my first year getting to experience it but I plan on going every year.
Do you have any pets?
I have a dog named Pebble. She is a maltese mixed with a shih tzu. Feel free to ask to see pictures because I have many!
Fun fact
This is the 7th state that I’ve lived in. I recently moved from upstate New York to escape the cold winters and I don’t plan on moving again, I love South Carolina!
