Joanna Davis Reiman, O.D.
I graduated summa cum laude from NC State University with a degree in Biology and Genetics and got my doctorate with clinical honors from Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
Primary care and ocular disease.
When did you know that you wanted to be an optometrist
I first knew I wanted to be an optometrist during college when I started working as a technician in a private practice. I got to see the relationships the optometrist built with her patients while helping them achieve better vision.
Favorite part of being an optometrist
My favorite part about being an optometrist is getting to know my patients. I love getting to see patients and their families over the years, not to mention seeing the stylish eyewear people pick out!
Although my go-to weekend escape is the Smoky Mountains, my favorite overall vacation was to Iceland. It has the most unique and beautiful landscape I’ve ever seen.
Favorite concert you’ve been to
I’ve been to a lot of great concerts, but the most memorable was getting to see living legend Elton John.
Do you have any pets
I have a 13-year-old black lab mix named Penelope. She has been my sidekick for the past 10 years.
Although it may be obvious that I’m an animal lover, one thing most people are surprised to hear about me is that during college my sister and I rescued 12 dogs from a shelter, we still have 3 of them.
