When did you know that you wanted to be an optometrist
After carrying a corneal metal foreign body around for about a week, I went to a local optometrist who removed the foreign body and rust ring without causing me pain. I went in hurting and left with great relief. I had been considering entering dental school, but soon knew that optometry was my calling. Favorite part of being an optometrist – The immediate gratification of helping people see what they have been missing.
Hiking across Scotland, scuba diving the finger reefs of Belize, or any trip hiking and fishing in Alaska.
Favorite concert you’ve been to
John Denver and Starland Vocal Band in Greensboro NC, 1977. Especially notable when we realized that my future wife and I had both attend the same concert some 30 years earlier.
Do you have any pets
Yes. A miniature Schnauzer named Deco that is not as good a running dog as I was led to believe.
I have been running marathons and ultra marathons since 1990.
In that time I have run about 100 marathons or longer.
My wife and I have 8 children, two grandchildren, and only two children still at home.
