Dr. Michael Marino, O.D.

Dr. Marino has practiced in a number of different settings from rural primary care to the UNC Kittner Eye Center.

 He joined Triangle Visions in 2015. He is the Director of Specialty Contact Lens Care and specializes in keratoconus and post-refractive surgery contact lens fitting. He also has a special focus on Myopia Control to help reduce rapidly progressing nearsightedness in children and teens.

Dr. Michael Marino received his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology and a minor in Mathematics from Wake Forest University in 1994. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from The New England College of Optometry in 1998.

When did you know that you wanted to be an optometrist

My junior year of college. I was majoring in Biology and getting a minor in Math when I went to a health careers seminar with a friend. After that seminar and finding out that meteorology relied on a specific math course that I hated, I was set on optometry.

Favorite part of being an optometrist

Solving problems and getting to work with people.

Favorite vacation

Anywhere in the mountains. My ideal vacation is hiking or sitting in a quiet place listening to nature.

Favorite concert you’ve been to

Metallica in 1991 at the Greensboro Coliseum and The Rolling Stones (Living Colour opened for them) in 1989 at the Houston Astrodome.

Do you have any pets?

Yes! Two dachshunds, Otto (brown) and Oscar (black).
