When did you know that you wanted to be an optometrist

I had a cousin in optometry school who encouraged me to explore the field, so I shadowed my local optometrist. This really sparked my interest, so I began working part time as a technician at an optometry office which confirmed that I had found my future career.

Favorite part of being an optometrist

What is your favorite part of being an optometrist? Meeting new people and not only helping them see better but teaching them how they can keep their eyes healthy. One of my favorite moments is putting contact lenses in a patient’s eyes who has never worn contact lenses before. That can be a very magical moment.

Favorite vacation

I love hiking, biking, and kayaking, so the North Carolina mountains are one of my favorite vacation destinations.

Favorite concert you’ve been to

I couldn’t choose just one. It would have to be a tie between Jump Little Children, Muse, Alt-J, and The Decemberists.

Do you have any pets?

I have a miniature schnauzer named Moxie, which is short for Moxifloxacin ( a great antibiotic eye drop)
